Six Sense Group, the luxury hotel operator, will continue its ongoing expansion in Thailand, Vietnam and the Maldives after receiving its second tranche of funding from Deutsche Bank. Deutsche Bank agreed to provide funding of up to $48m when it entered into a joint venture with the Six Senses Group in June. The group owns the Soneva Fushi resort on the uninhabited island of Kunfunadhoo in the Maldives which was voted Best Leisure Resort of the World and Best of the Best Tourism project of the year 2000 by Conde Nast Traveller UK. The company has subsequently acquired Soneva Gilli, a second island in the Maldives and is currently developing a luxury water villa development and spa comprising 44 holiday units. The group is also seeking further investment opportunities in four and five star hotels to continue its expansion programme.
