St. Regis Hotels & Resorts (SRHR) has opened its latest hotel on the waterfront of Wanzai, Zhuhai in the city’s tallest skyscraper.
Commissioned by the Zhuhai Huafa Group and designed by Chinese architectural firm RMJM, the 31-storey St. Regis Zhuhai – which reportedly is also the first luxury hotel in the district – features 251 guest rooms and 34 suites.
In addition to its five on-site restaurants, the resort also features a spa with nine treatment rooms, a health club, indoor and outdoor pools and an athletic club.
The new venue is poised to benefit from a surge in tourism as a result of the recent opening of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge, the world's longest sea crossing.
In a statement, Lisa Holladay, global brand leader at SRHR said: "The opening of The St. Regis Zhuhai provides luxury travelers with an opportunity to explore the beauty of this enchanting destination in China while enjoying the signature St. Regis traditions, rituals and service."
The company – which boasts a global portfolio of over 40 luxury hotels and resorts – is slated to roll out another venue in neighbouring Hong Kong in 2019.
